Spring Term Newsletter 2025

Welcome back to the Spring term at Wisbech Day Nursery. We would also like to welcome all the new children and their families to our nursery; we look forward to working with you. Should you have any queries, please ask your child’s key person or speak to your child’s room leader. The Manager, Sarah Vick, is also on hand via email (sarah.vick@wisbechdaynursery.co.uk) or telephone the nursery anytime should you need anything. For any invoice queries, please direct these to Barrie Vick; his email is office@wisbechdaynursery.co.uk.

Lending Library and Going Home Bags

This year, we have refreshed our lending library, adding many lovely books for you to borrow and share with your child. We have also updated our “going home bags” for Rhyme Time and Maths bags.

The Rhyme time bags continue to be from the Alice Sharp collection. Each bag contains a toy and a booklet with notes and suggested activities. These do not need to be strictly followed but can be a guide. This term, the Maths bags are focused on “Monster Maths”; the children will enjoy taking our Monsters home!

You can collect books and bags from our main entrance hallway anytime. Staff members can help you choose the Rhyme Time and Maths. Going Home Bags and books must be signed in/out of the setting, and parents will be responsible for any loss or damage.

National Day Nursery Association (NDNA) Quality Counts Visit

An NDNA inspector will visit us on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, to assess our Quality Counts Award. From 8 to 9 a.m., the inspector will ask some parents for feedback on the nursery. When dropping off your child, she may approach you to ask for feedback about your key person and the nursery.

Staffing

We welcome our new room leader, Emma, to the Butterflies Room. Nicoll is joining the Ladybirds team as our Level 3 Apprentice. Nicoll was a student with us last term at the College of West Anglia and impressed us so much that she is now part of our team.

Collection of children

If you need to inform us of a change in the person collecting your child, please let us know either when dropping your child off or by telephoning the nursery on 01945 586966. If the person collecting your child is unfamiliar, we will ask for the password from your child’s registration pack.

First-Day Absence Calls

Parents/Carers must report their child’s absence to the Nursery on the first day. It is essential for your child’s learning and development to have regular attendance in the Nursery. Please report all absences on 01945 586966 or text 07825 575 225.

Nursery clothing

Part of the nursery ethos throughout all our playrooms is allowing children to access messy play activities. We ask parents to bring a change of clothes for their child to the nursery, which can be left in a bag on their peg. Please ensure that all coats, shoes, and clothes are named to ensure nothing gets misplaced or lost.

Please do not send your child to the nursery in their best clothes. Nursery sweatshirts and polo shirts can be purchased through https://myclothing.com/first-steps-childcare-wisbech-day-nursery/6473.school, eliminating the possibility of messy play activities marking your child’s best clothes.

Parking

We want to remind parents to park in the designated bays in our car park. Please do not park at the front of the building. This will ensure the safety of everyone.

Contact details

Please keep us informed of your current contact details, particularly mobile numbers. Someone must be available to collect your child in an emergency while at nursery. Please ensure someone else can be contacted to collect your child if unavailable.

Policies and Procedures

These essential documents are used to maintain the standards of the nursery, and they are available on our website, www.wisbechdaynursery.co.uk. Policies and procedures are also on Tapestry under “Documents.” Please speak to your child’s key worker for a paper copy of the policies.

Sickness

The Nursery is not a place for poorly children. If your child has been sick or had an upset stomach, they must remain away from the nursery for a minimum of 48 hours and not return until they have had a normal (for them) stool. We ask that children taking antibiotics not be at the nursery for the first 24 hours. Please ask us if you are unsure when your child should return to nursery after an illness.

Tapestry

We love reading what your children have been doing at home. Please upload photographs for us to add to their learning journey. We have been busy posting on the ‘Documents’ feature on Tapestry. In this section of Tapestry, you will find important information, such as policies, previous letters, and newsletters, to ensure that prior information is always available for parents to look at.

If you are unsure how to do this, please speak to your child’s key person, and they will help you. If you do not have or have misplaced your Tapestry Login, please email Jasmin or Sarah at office@wisbechdaynursery.co.uk, and we will be able to set up your account.

Working Parent’s funding and 3 – 4 year extended entitlement codes

Parents accessing working parents funding or 30 hours extended entitlement will need to reconfirm their codes when requested by HMRC every 3 months. Please check your childcare account and look for emails from HMRC to maintain your funding.
