Butterflies Pre-school
Our Pre-School is based in our dedicated porta-cabin accommodation and is led by Ruth, our qualified teacher, and Danielle, who work closely together to oversee the day-to-day running of the room and the delivery of our high-quality Early Years curriculum.
We have a strong team of qualified and experienced Early Years practitioners. Ruth, as our qualified teacher, provides leadership and expertise in teaching and learning, ensuring that our curriculum is carefully planned to meet the individual needs, interests and developmental stages of every child. Danielle holds a BA in Childhood Studies and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and understanding of child development to her role in supporting the leadership of the Pre-School room.
Ruth and Danielle are supported by a team of experienced Early Years Practitioners, ensuring that children benefit from a skilled, knowledgeable and dedicated team who are committed to providing high-quality care, education and learning experiences.
Our Pre-School plays an important role in preparing children for their transition to school. We provide a more structured daily experience while continuing to recognise that young children learn best through meaningful, purposeful and enjoyable play. Activities are carefully planned to encourage children to develop their understanding, curiosity, logic, reasoning and independent thinking, while supporting their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
Although the children experience a more structured routine as they progress through Pre-School, music time, story time, outdoor learning, imaginative play, free play, messy play and creative activities remain an essential part of each day. Through purposeful play and carefully planned experiences, we support children to develop early literacy and numeracy skills, mark-making, communication and language, problem-solving, creativity and imaginative thinking.
As part of our commitment to helping children develop a strong understanding of their local community and the wider world, children will also have opportunities to visit our local town for special events and meaningful learning experiences. This may include visiting the local memorial for Remembrance Day, exploring the local park, visiting local shops and taking part in community events. These outings provide valuable opportunities for children to develop confidence, independence, communication and social skills, while learning about the people, places and community around them.
A key part of our Pre-School provision is supporting children to develop the skills, confidence and independence they need to be ready for school. We work closely with each child and their family to identify their individual strengths and next steps, supporting children to develop positive relationships, listen and follow instructions, communicate their needs, manage their emotions, become increasingly independent with self-care and develop the resilience and curiosity needed to become confident learners. Through our carefully planned curriculum and strong partnerships with families and local schools, we aim to ensure that every child leaves Pre-School feeling confident, capable, independent and excited about starting school.
