Caterpillars - Under 2's

Our Caterpillar Room is for children from birth – 2 years. We focus on the individual needs of each child and will follow your routine from home wherever possible. Your child will be allocated a key worker who will work in partnership with you, to consistently support the child’s home routine with regards to weaning, sleeping, feeding, and meeting your child’s changing individual needs.
Children’s individual learning and development is planned for using “in the moment planning”, taking into account their current interests and dislikes. We have a large variety of age-appropriate toys and resources to help your child develop in a fun and stimulating environment. We regularly involve all children in various messy activities such as painting, sand/water, food play, and other sensory experiences. Heuristic play is always available for the children to encourage their curiosity and support their creativity. Children develop their fine motor skills, as they explore the endless ways to pick up, manipulate, and use different objects.
Your child’s learning and development is recorded on our online learning journey “Tapestry”. You will be able to see photos and videos of your child, as well as upload your own proud moments.
Welcoming a child to the nursery
Children about to start nursery are encouraged to make one or two familiarisation visits with a parent/carer to help them settle in. On their first ‘proper’ day with us they will be welcomed by their Key Person and re-introduced to the other children. Whilst we try not to encourage children to bring their own toys from home with them, however sometimes a teddy or blanket can be a comfort for them in their first few sessions. However, most children quickly settle in and enjoy their new surroundings.
The day nursery has mature, experienced staff who provide commitment and consistency for both you and your child. Wisbech Day Nursery endeavours to ensure your child develops and reaches their full potential on their Learning Journey, in a caring, happy and fun environment.
The nursery opens from Monday to Friday all year round. Sessions are from 7am until 6.30pm. The nursery provides sessional care, funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children
The nursery supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and those speaking English as an additional language.
