Safeguarding
Our setting has a duty under the law to help safeguard children against suspected or actual ‘significant harm’. Our employment practices ensure children against the likelihood of abuse in our settings and we have a procedure for managing complaints or allegations against a member of staff.Our way of working with children and their parents ensures we are aware of any problems that may emerge and can offer support, including referral to appropriate agencies when necessary, to help families in difficulty.
All Policies have been adopted by First Steps Childcare (Cambs) Limited and are reviewed annually. For a copy of all of the settings policies is available on the website and on Tapestry our online Learning Journey system.
Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are: Sarah, Jasmin, Naomi, Ellie and Danielle.
Welcoming a child to the nursery
Children about to start nursery are encouraged to make one or two familiarisation visits with a parent/carer to help them settle in. On their first ‘proper’ day with us they will be welcomed by their Key Person and re-introduced to the other children. Whilst we try not to encourage children to bring their own toys from home with them, however sometimes a teddy or blanket can be a comfort for them in their first few sessions. However, most children quickly settle in and enjoy their new surroundings.
The day nursery has mature, experienced staff who provide commitment and consistency for both you and your child. Wisbech Day Nursery endeavours to ensure your child develops and reaches their full potential on their Learning Journey, in a caring, happy and fun environment.
The nursery opens from Monday to Friday all year round. Sessions are from 7am until 6.30pm. The nursery provides sessional care, funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children
The nursery supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and those speaking English as an additional language.
